Pied Bushchat Male

A little bird from the grass lands that exhibits sexual dimorphism where the the female and the male can be clearly distinguished. In some of the communities the pied bushchat and the oriental magpie robin are hair bringers of good fortune.

Bed of Thorns – 3

This is the third of the series of images of this event. The overall sequence was about 74 images and Nikon D500 was absolutely amazing where it captured the entire sequence without a miss and not once did it struggle for Buffer.

Bed of Thorns – 1

This is the second image in the series. Black shouldered kite is known to hover over the grasslands looking for a prey and the most of the times I have seen it feeding on rodents and sometimes on small birds.

Bed of Thorns – 2

We were driving around in the grassland when we observed the black shouldered kite perched right up on a dead tree and continuously calling. To our surprise we saw another bsk come flying from behind and perch close by. Only then did we realize that the calling bird was the male and the one which arrived was the female.

Yellow eyed Babbler

A skulker of a bird that is seen in the bushes mostly. Once in a while it will pop up to the top of the bush and then dive back to join others in the group. This image was made at one such instance when we waited patiently in the grassland to see one emerge on top of the bush.
