Deforestation means converting forests to non-forest use permanently for some particular purposes or usage. We will see this subject in detail in one of our future volume. Today, lets see some of the factors that result in deforestation.
You Know, economic and industrial growth are the essential parts of the development of every country and they have their own side effects too. The development of industries is good news but it heavily affects the natural forests that leads to mass level of deforestation.
According to a report of Food and Agricultural Organization of United nations, nearly 50 – 60 percentage of the deforestation is due to the increasing firms of agro-industry that produce products such as palm oil, coco and clay products, etc. Increasing agro-industries need more land and infrastructure for plantations and factories and they use the forest areas.
Small scale farming and the usage of wood as energy resource are also contributing 20-30 percentages to the deforestation factor. Increase in the deforestation rate, also causes the accumulation of green house gases which is the main reason for global warming.
