Greater crested tern, Kundapura

One of the common terns that you will find in the boat ride around the back waters of Kundapura. The greater crested tern has grey upper parts, white underparts, a yellow bill, and a shaggy black crest that recedes in winter. It is also called as crested tern or swift tern. They primarily feed on fish by making a plunging dive.
